Phillip Jeffries is looking for a Financial Controller to join our team! 

 

We are seeking a technically skilled and dynamic Controller to partner with the VP of Finance in leading all aspects of accounting. A successful candidate will possess strong personal and professional integrity, top-notch analytical skills, and a commitment to collaboration, integration, and company growth. 

 

Candidates with a track record of increasing responsibility in technical accounting and team leadership are highly preferred. This role will report to our VP of Finance. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

Leadership: 

  • Be a PJ advocate and communicate our vision, mission, values, and great & worthy purpose. 
  • Provide strategic financial input and assist leadership on decision making issues affecting the company 
  • Oversee and manage financial functions including accounting, treasury, tax, risk control, and internal reporting. 
  • Broaden job knowledge by awareness of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. 

Accounting Operations: 

  • Grow financial success of Phillip Jeffries by providing accounting services, assist in preparing growth plans, directing, and mentoring team. 
  • Develop finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations. 
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements.  
  • Oversee the financial activities of PJ to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of financial reports, including, but not limited to, the Balance Sheet, P/L, and Cash Flow Statement 
  • Oversee the company’s disbursements, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, commissions, expense reports, and payroll 
  • Work with the outside accounting firm and provide them with the required information to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of government tax returns 
  • Provide the outside accounting firm with the financial figures required to prepare the year-end financial report for PJ’s bank 
  • Review and analyze on a monthly basis the inventory of the company 
  • Make recommendations to the ownership in regards to the write-off of obsolete inventory 
  • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, federal, and foreign tax returns 
  • Interface with banks, auditors, and insurance agents 
  • Partner with the CFO to run the finance team and continually look for ways to improve the efficiency and profitability with adhoc and strategic projects 

 

We are eager to engage with individuals whom: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance  
  • 8+ years’ experience in accounting 
  • Previous management experience preferred 
  • Advanced quantitative, analytical and Excel skills are required, as well as strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.  
  • CPA or CMA preferred 
  • Working knowledge of ERP system and accounting software are a plus.  
  • Strong leadership skills and experience effectively growing and developing large teams. 
  • Enjoy high energy, entrepreneurial work environments which involve a fast paced and dynamic culture 
  • Strong project management skills and experience developing, driving, and implementing new financial systems and business processes 
  • Capacity to effectively manage multiple projects with competing deadlines; results-oriented 
  • Ability to think creatively, anticipate problems and opportunities, and drive vision for continuous improvement 
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to build relationships, rapport, credibility, and consensus with
